If your using DirectPlay, why use encryiption your making a game (I assume) not a secure database program

Vb6 and Vb.net was really never meant for games development, thats not to say it should not be done though, just remember if its speed you want goto C/C++. if your writing a small and simple game vb.net should be able to handle it. I would worry about the main aspects before you even consider about encryiption in anyway shape or form.

Have you got any design specs sorted out??

Im not going to use VB.net I moved over to C# I just like the ppl on this forum
it will have a login system and yes it will have a database on the server end(access for now) and making a safe login system would be smart I would think or am I wrong?
unless I dont understand networked games right most ppl find ways to cheat in them using a packet sniffers and alter the packet info, so to me to avoid that nonsence encryption would be of importance at some point, looking at directplay in a hole its very easy, having read "Managed DirectX 9 kick start" but anywho I will search google again
thanks
