Default USB Robotic Arm

Hi there

I want to write a small app that will control my USB Robotic Arm
which I brought from http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=266257

I have done my basic research and i can't seem to find a topic that matches my need , I am thinking on the line of a small form with properly a control like MSComm1 , few buttons that execute commands ie to move left or right and so foth.

This robot arm comes with its own software that allow it to control its move but there is nothing like writting your own , i managed to find this file ElanUSB32.dll within the program files / robotics/ folder which I think belongs to this device.

can one suggest me a activeX control or a method that will control this robot arm.

kind regards

It appears the gentel man here is using Unix to send commands but Windows should use DeviceIOControl for this unit here. You will need to CreateFile to get a Handle to the Device like so

MyRobot = CreateFile("\\?\HID#Vid_0267&Pid_0000&....BLAHBLAHGBLAH,GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE, 0, IntPtr.Zero, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, IntPtr.Zero)

Might want to add the sharing flags just in case... then use DeviceIOControl with the information from the link above to send the Information to the USB device. This will be the method as long as the USB arm does not try to emulate directly a Mouse/Keyboard/HID driver.

Ultima, Correct me if I'm wrong.
