Default The most simple IR task

Hi there,

I'm digging for a couple of days now and have come up with nothing so I'd love to have any help available

Here's the thing:

I need to send keystrokes using my InfraRed port on my laptop.
As simple as a TV remote control. -being able to send numbers: 1 .. 2 .. and left right etc ...

Can any one drop a piece of code for that ? or at list some guide lines regarding how to access the IrDA port ?

Thanks,
Gil Uriel

No clue. It's not a standard piece of hardware and thus doesn't have any CLR classes for accessing it, unless it appears as a COM port; then you could use the SerialPort class. Everything I'm reading online says IR ports are usually exposed as COM ports, so you ought to be able to follow any tutorial for using a COM port. This is too complex for anyone to just "drop a piece of code" to help; hardware questions are particularly difficult to answer. I don't have a machine with an IR port so I can't even try anything out.

Otherwise, you're going to have to figure out the vendor and see if they've provided any documentation for using the IR port. Ideally they'd have a .NET example, but you can make do with a COM or C library.

I would bet money 2/3 of .NET questions are already answered in one of these three places.
