Default #28000Access denied for user 'root

Hey

I get the following message when I try to connect to a MySQL database in my VB.NET application : #28000Access denied for user 'root, ...

The database stands on a remote server and with my clients I have to connect to this database.

I have the following connectionstring

Dim Connectie As New MySqlConnection("server=192.168.0.32; database=DBName; user id=DBUser; password=DBPwd")

When I try to open the connection, my code jumps into the catch block and shows : #28000Access denied for user 'root, ...

It's strange because the user exists in the database on the remote server.
I've added the user in the "MySQL-Front" interface.

Is it possible that I haven't got the privileges to connect to the database from my clients.

Regards

One possibility is that there is an IP restriction on logging in. MySQL may only allow root access from the localhost unless you explicitly grant it elsewhere.

And you really don't want to give clients root access to your Server. Set up a database for them and only give them access to their database. Otherwise they may(will) really screw things up...
