Default request help with DLL (class library)

1. the SQL Server 2005 database is located on a computer on the LAN.
2. the DLL (class library) is supposed to connect to this database.
3. the Client is supposed to get the DLL to open the database.

Question: the DLL works fine on the development machine, but when I move it to the database machine, I get an error like, "unable to login to CHRIS\GUEST".

Am I doing this right? I just want the DLL to open the database on the remote machine, and then use my thin Client to talk to that DLL. It works fine in development, but snags once I try to traffic onto the LAN.

Details:
1. File sharing is enabled on both machines: the database computer and the client.
2. the DLL is copied over to the database machine (not installed in a setup file).
3. the connection string does not explicityly name the location, just uses a period: here is the string:

Code:
strConnection = "Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=" & dbName & ";Integrated Security=True"
where "dbName" is the name of the database.

Thanks for any help,

Chris.

The initial configuration of SQL 2005 has network connections disabled. You have to turn them on. The easiest way to do that is with the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration Tool. Just enable TCP/IP or Named Pipes depending on which you're using. (You can enable both of them.)

The DLL is sitting on the server? That doesn't sound right to me. It seems like that should be distributed with the application. Unless you're using something like Web Services or Remoting...
