Default Database App on Windows 7

This is probably more of a Windows 7 issue than a VB one, but I thought I would start here to see if anyone else has experienced the problem.

I have a database app that I wrote in VB6 a while back that uses Access as the backend. I have installed the app on Windows 7 pc's and all works fine....most of the time.

On some pc's I see an issue where if I replace, rename, or even remove the DB, my app (b/c of something to do with Windows 7) still sees and reads the information from the old DB. It seems no matter what I do, I cannot "remove" the .mdb file from the system. As one can imagine, this is making it very hard to replace the outdated db with an updated version. I never experienced anything like this running the app in the XP environment.

Any ideas what may be going on here?
Thanks!

This can occur if the MDB file is stored in the same location where the executable resides.
Starting with Vista, a local copy of the file is maintained and used in "c:\users\<your name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\[app name]"

Thank you for the info, I did not know this. Definitely gives me something to go on.

However, my .mdb file is in a "db" folder within the root directory where the .exe resides. Is there a better way to set this up to prevent it form happening? How do I handle this situation other than dropping a new version in the Local Virtual Store too?

Thanks!

I never found a solution, nor could I reproduce the problem for other PC's in the network using the same network share and the same EXE and DB.
