Default postgreSQL cvonnection from VB2010

Hi all,
I am trying to connect to a postgres server installed on a lan computer.
I have tryied varius commands, but all of them failed. The problem must be the odbc.

I have downloaded and installed the psqlodbc_09_03_0100 from the postgres site and the Npgsql-2.0.14.3, but to be honest i am not sure what to do with them.

I tried to add the drivers from the project->add reference -> browse, window
within the VB but i cant find the right file.

From what i have read on the web, it seems to me that i need to install/enable the microsoft ActiveX Data Object (OLEDB), but i cant find it on the COM tab.
There are a bunch of microsoft ActiveX Data Object with some numbers but no ODBC.

any ideas?

Thanks

The FIRST thing to verify is that the postgreSQL listener (server) has been configured to accept remote network access. Using a text editor, or pgAdmin, take a look at the pg_hba.conf file on the server; and refer to Chapter 19 in the postgreSQL 9.3 documentation.

Once you've established that you can connect remotely, then begin looking at connecting with dotNet. I really like the data providers that Devart makes; they offer a free version for download - it has no limits on usage, unlike some that I've seen with other third party data providers, it just doesn't have the nice 'bells and whistles' that the paid-for versions offer. Note that it a 'direct' setting whoch communicates directly with the server; it does not need to communicate through standard OLEDB or ODBC drivers. (You just provide the server address or network name, port number, user ID and password, and it communicates directly.) Or, if you want to have the ODBC or OLEDB layer, you can connect that way as well. The free version doesn't have SSL connection capability, or other more advanced features that the paid-for versions have, but what is does is fast and free.

Yes, i finaly figured this myself. I finally installed and used the devart software. It seems to me that it is too much truble for nothing.
I do have an issue, it seems that i cant pass multiple insert commands at once. i have to execute the multiple inserts one by one.

Thanks,ilias
