Default sqlclient connection problem

Hi everybody,

I use the following connection string to connect to SQL Server 2000 for sqlclient connection:

"Data Source=Cronus\sql2000;Initial Catalog=marketing;Trusted_Connection=False;User ID=sa;Password=sa;"

I get this error:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connection."

Well, I'm sure about the name and the remote connection, because when I use the exact server name an connection string to open ADODB connection, everything is fine. There must be a problem with SQLCLIENT!
By the way, I have no problem to connect to my other SQL instance witch is SQL Server 2008 with this connection string:

"Data Source=Cronus;Initial Catalog=marketing;Trusted_Connection=False;User ID=sa;Password=sa;"

Is there any problem in connecting to SQL Server 2000 or maybe the instance name for sqlclient connection?!

Well,
I've changed "Target framework" in "Advanced Compiler Settings" from .NET Framework 4 to .NET Framework 3.5, and the problem solved!

I know they dropped support in the visual studio tools for Sql 2000 when they released VS 2010 but as far as I am aware SqlClient still worked in .Net 4 itself.

Interesting that it now no longer seems to work at all, then again SQL 2000 stopped mainstream support back in 2008 and extended support ceased in 2013 so I am not entirely surprised.
