Creating a new file extension is simply the case of saving a file with the new extension. No special coding needed unless you want additional functionality.

The openfiledialog... use a filter to only look for items with your specific file extension. A simple search of openfiledialog and filter should do the trick.

The Control on the form... I assume you mean you want to save the location of the control on the form to file. You have a couple of options. If you want something a little nicer, look into serialization. Very pleasant way of doing this. If you want to cheat, look at the top and left properties of the control. Write them to the file and then use string manipulation to get the values back from the file.

Does this all make sense? If you have any specific problems let me know.
