Default Game timer confusion...


I am trying to make a simple "simon says" game, four flashing colors with sounds and such. I'm a bit stuck and could use a hint. I want my start button to activate the lights and sounds, which means I would have a timer to play/flash a sound/color and then move randomly to the next, so that all four have flashed/played. I am just unsure how to make a timer work that way. I know how to make a timer for one event, but to make it work randomly on 4 different labels and with sound, ugh makes me want to scream.

I'm not looking for anyone to write out the code for me, just point me in the right direction. I have tried the help/library, but haven't gotten anything there.

Have a random number generator randomize numbers from 1 to 4, each number corresponds to a label. If your timer's interval elapse, then execute the random number generator and whatever the result would be then have your code interpret it to it's corresponding label equivalent, using Select Case most probably.
