Default 360 Picture move VB 2005


Hello, im currently making(or trying) Turbo Tanks from vb Express edition 2005 and I cant get my tank to move a full 360. I can only make it move 90degrees

Can anybody out there help me make a object move 360

and btw is it possible to actually make this game from VB 2005

Yes it is definately possible to create a game such as Turbe Tanks in VB 2005. Is it graphically you are having trouble rotating your tanks? What method do you use to render your tanks?

Heh, I dont think its graphically(im guessing you have to make like 20 pictures of it moving 360, i can do this by paint) but I have no clue of what the code is to do this 360 move. I would copy and paste my code but its pretty long ='\

I have a question, should I copy/paste my code? I would but i dont want to paste it and make you read it without asking you first

How to do it depends a lot on how you want your game engine to work:
  • Should the tanks be able to face all 360 degrees direction?
  • Should the tank only be capable of facing a defined number of direction (say 8 for n, s, e, w, ne, se, ect)
If you're going with the first case, then making pictures for all directions really isn't an option since you'd need to do 360 pictures. In that case you'd want 1 picture that you rotated inside your code.

If you're going with the second solution, however, making a picture for each direction is very viable. You would also like to keep a track of the direction for your tank - an Enum would properly serve this purpose.

Your game logic no matter which of the solutions you pick ought to follow something like this:
  1. Check the tank's current direction
  2. Either rotate your original picture to the direction if using option 1 or select correct picture if option 2
  3. Draw the tank
