Question Visual Novel(like) game. Any advice?

I'm gonna do a simple program as a project in my programming class. It was the idea of my teammates to like a comic. I rejected the idea because it was something that we wouldn't been much effort and might as well not count for a project. So.. I suggested to make a Visual Novel-like game. In which we are gonna do separate jobs (character pictures, storyline and making the program). The thing it... I'm the one making the program... so... I lost all my notes what kind of code I could use in the program... so... I'm stocked...
Any recomendations?
Here's what the program needs to do:
-Keep chaninging into different dialog everytime you click a button ("Continue" button)
-Keep changing the character images (expresions) when depending on the dialog in which the game currently is.
-Keep changing the background music with the same condition.
-Have a message or something that makes you take a choice depending on the part of the story you are at the moment (Example: "You are about to get killed by a bear, what would you do?" A) Run B) Try shooting the bear)
-Depending on the choice you make the story has it's own path or you die if you made a wrong choice.
-And... if there's a chance to have a "Save/Load Game" option... it'll help a lot on my project.

So... thank you for your help lads. I'm sorry if I'm asking for something really simple but I'm just a beginner on this so I apologize.
Thanks for everyone who's willing to help me

We're starting off pretty broad here, aren't we?
1. Isn't this one pretty easy? Use a button's click event and change the text in a label?
2. You have to draw them - drawing expressions programmatically isn't going to be done.
3. You have to be more specific than 'music'. Different types of music require different addins, but any type of music file requires some sort of addin.
4. You could use a MessageBox or make your own form that asks for a choice.
5. Death can be handled many ways - you could close the form, or you could restore from a continue point.
6. You'll need to look at IO.StreamReader and IO.StreamWriter.

To be honest, it looks like you're throwing a whole bunch of stuff at us and you haven't actually started anywhere. I think you should at least get the button click to change the text in a label before you get concerned about a Save/Load game option or background music.
