Default Open vb6 projects in vb 2010?

I have a few projects that I started in vb6 and would like to continue working on them in vb2010. I looked all over and I can't find an Import feature, like vb2008 had.

I don't have vb2008 so converting from vb6 > vb08 > vb2010 is out of the question. Also, the projects are to big to remake from scratch in vb2010.

Is there anything I can do?

If the projects are too big to consider rewriting then the migration wizard provided with 2008 and earlier would have been no real help either. The included migration wizard didn't really do a good job anyway and I would never have used it for any real world situation.

Looking at the RC for 2010 I can't see any mention of the importer either, not missing it though. If you really want to look at converting your code automatically there are 3rd party tools that apparently do a far better job - I have had no personal experience with them though.

It's possible that the migration wizard isn't part of Visual Studio 2010 yet. If you downloaded the Beta 2 version of Express Edition then the reason is probably because it's a beta. If you have the RC edition the reason is likely because they were more focused on converting VS 2008/2005 projects for this release. I haven't heard anything about them dropping it completely; I doubt they're willing to put up with the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the "10 years isn't long enough for us to migrate" crowd.

That said, the output of the conversion wizard is usually rubbish. It doesn't "convert" projects so much as apply hacks that make it run; you're expected to review the code and fix the hacks. Fixing some of the hacks can involve redesigning the architecture of the application.

If the projects were just started, I'd say it'd be roughly as difficult to start over or use the old project as a reference. If you feel that's not an answer, you'll have to wait until at least Monday for the release of VS 2010 to see if it's in the RTM. Since VS 2010 isn't working at the moment, why not exploit that it can go from VS 2008 to VS 2010 format? "Convert" the project in 2008, then convert that to 2010 format. (Or wait 5 days.)
