Arrow how to consume dynamic web service in vb.net

hello guys!

i would like to ask if how can my vb.net app client consumes dynamic web service (URL). sometimes my webservice changes its IP thus my vb.net client can't connect to the webservice during compilation of my code.

in vb6... i can simply do some dynamic change in my webservice using SOAP

Code:
Private Sub Command1_Click() Dim oClient Set oClient = CreateObject("MSSOAP.SoapClient30") oClient.MSSoapInit textboxSOAPURL.text 'hopefully vb.net does this MsgBox (oClient.WelcomeMsg(Text1.Text)) If Err.Number = -2147024809 Then MsgBox "Invalid Web Service Request. Please check the Web Service URL" End If End Sub

i want my users to paste the new webservice URL in a textbox so that they can access it. is it possible? thanks in advance

Under .Net the generated proxy class for communicating with a web service exposes a .Url property - just set that to the url of the webservice.

The server changing it's address shouldn't affect the compilation of your project as it will only refresh the information when you update the webreference.

To change the url at runtime for the web service proxy class just assign the new address of the server to the .Url property of the proxy class.
