Default Compilation not behaving as in development interface

Hi folks.

I have a project that I've been coding and debugging in VB2010. The project includes a service reference. When I debug the project, it works fine. But when I compile the project and run the executable, the following exception is raised when calling any function of the service reference:

Error initializing service reference: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'MyServiceReference.IServDesti' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element.

But as I say, the project has no problem successfully running in development mode so the issue can't be the endpoint referencing. The app.config file has been copied to the same folder where the executable is running.

What am I missing here?

What is the filename of the app.config when running the app as a released application? It needs to be the name of the application (including the .exe extension) with .config appended.

e.g. if the application is app1.exe the config needs to be app1.exe.config

Now, I feel really dumb. It's been so long since I've done such a project that I completely forgot to rename the app.config.

Thanks for stepping in PlausiblyDamp.
