Default VB 2008 compile

Hello,

I am sorry if this has already been addressed. I searched around here and many other places for the answer yesterday with no luck.

I am fairly new to VB and I am using VB 2008 Express. I am creating an application that uses the MapWindow (www.mapwindow.org) API. My problem is that when I compile it on one computer, it does not work on my other machine. This seems to be an issue whether or not I use the Publish or Build functions. The end result is a crash of the compiled program on the other computer (the generic... this program had to close... and you can send an error report to MS). The other computer also has the MapWindow API installed. Also, to be safe, when I compiled I told the program to include copies of all of the references. The real odd part is that I saved my program out as a template, loaded it up on the other computer in VB 2008 Express, and it ran within VB 2008 and compiled without any problems running it. I took the copy compiled on that computer and brought it to my original one and then it would not work there.

Any ideas? I spoke with a friend yesterday who programs, just not with VB, and he said VB Studio is the way to go. Is there anyway to fix this problem without going down that route, at least in the short term? Thank you very much.

This is going to sound silly but is the appropriate CLR installed on the target machines?

Same versions?

When does the application crash, immediately or when you try and perform some function.
