Question Referencing the latest verison of excel installed on a computer

Weird problem I'm facing. I've written a tool that references Excel 2010....
e.g. (C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel\14.0.0.0_ _71e9bce111e9429c\Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll)

The end user has both excel 2003 and 2010 installed (she needs 2003 for some missing drawing tools 2010 doesn't have).

Anyway, when she runs the tool I created, it it referencing the older version dll. It errors when trying to open the XLSX files (program does not support this version of blah blah blah....etc).

How can I tell my program to force it to reference the version 14 dll? Any ideas?

I think the problem with this was, the end user had installed Excel 2003 after installation of office 2010.

Re-running office 2010 setup appears to have solved this.

Moral of the story, your app will reference the office version of the "latest" installed product.

If you find this in a search, just re-run the install of the office version you want your program to reference.

Cheers
