Using Direct X

I have been using VB for about a year now, and I never heard of Direct X before coming to this forum a couple months ago, I heard that you can make games easier, (like RPG's) and I am putting together tools to build an RPG or something like that, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me something about this, thanx

well most games you play uses DX at least good ones.. DX is very powerfull and pretty complex but when you learn how to use it.. there is some much u can do.. if you are goin ta make a 2d game then i would use DX7 its supposed to be easier well check out this site http://64.23.12.52//index.asp
