Seems like I've gone from Guru to Junior Contributor. With over 300 posts, isn't that somewhat harsh ?

I think it will just take a while for people to get used to. As soon as they have "Expert" and "Guru" badges, my title will go back to "Junior Contributor" as well. The thought was that the post frequency titles would reflect your level of involvement, while the badges would denote expertise in one or more specific areas (I think).

I think the new naming scheme is better than the previous, which implied that posting alot meant you knew what you were doing. In essence, you could SPAM this board a whole bunch and get earn a title of recognition while you really aren't a "Guru" or "Expert" or anything else.

I think people will grow into the new titles.

So titles are now awarded separately by the moderators ?

The titles you see under the names are still by post count. There is a
list of them in a post by JDT in the Site News forum. The Badges that
reflect actual knowledge and skill will be awarded by the moderators,
once that function is working.

I think therefore I am... sometimes right. images/icons/wink.gif

I see you've picked a name....

Good choice!

By eliminating everything that I wasn't, that was the only thing left. images/icons/wink.gif

When you hit the 1600+ mark can you change your title in your profile, or is it assigned to you as a one-time thing?

We make up a title for you images/icons/wink.gif.

Actually you can pick your own title but we have to approve it. For instance, you can't pick "Administrator" or "Moderator"....

Since we don't want to be changing peoples titles all the time, let's say that you can change it and rechange it within reason...ie. if it gets to be too much of a burden, we'll make it one-time only.

You let a admin know what you want it changed to, and as long as
it is appropriate, we will change it.

ok, that's what I figured. Good idea. Although I doubt most people will ever make it there.

Well....you have 290 posts and you joined Aug 22 (19 days ago). So you are posting at over 15 per day. If you kept up that rate, you would make 1600 posts by December 5, 2001.

Assuming your posting rate has been slowed by school, you still have a chance to make it by christmas images/icons/smile.gif

Well, I don't post so much now (not even just because of school) because the novelty of being able to help people with my grand knowledge bank (yeah, right) has worn off. Although in those 290 posts, only three or four have been questions (I'm proud). Although I do seem to be absent-mindedly posting pointless post in which end up resulting in a Private Message from Thinker. images/icons/smile.gif I try my best not to though.
