XP

could someone tell me about XP installation? i know that it generates a "fingerprint", but then what? you call MS, they give you another key? 3 keys total???

what I heard is that you are asked for a activation code which can be acquired by phoning MS and telling them about your hardware or doing it electronically. The code is based on your hardware so if you change major prats of your hardware you have to reactivate, which means calling or filling out forms electronically again.
