rodfiuza 10-02-2001, 08:57 AM There's a funny question: how much time of your work time you spend in this forum ? (of course this question is only for those who work, but everybody can answer...).
I use to spen like 1 hour and a half reading and writing posts, which means almost a quarter of my total work time. This is helping me improve my vb skills, and i feel very happy when i can help other people, or just talk with people involved in the same thing i do :)

I used to spend about an hour and a half too, but now I've got too much work so it's reduced to about half an hour a day

orufet 10-02-2001, 09:01 AM I go to school, and spend 1-3 hours a day programming in VB and using the forum. I would like to spend more time here, but school is limitimg.

BillSoo 10-02-2001, 07:54 PM I used to log on before I left for work and do most of the new questions. Then when I was at work, I would log on every half hour or so to see if anything new and interesting popped up. Mostly, near the end of the day, people would not be posting so I would log in late at night to get the new postings from our european members.....
So in answer to the question, I would be logged in pretty much all day, but I would only be actively reading and writing maybe an hour or so.

rodfiuza 10-02-2001, 09:09 PM One thing make me spend more and more time at this forum is the fact that people here are really nice and really want to help you. I'm student of many areas of computer science and have been and lots of forums. In some of them you are just ignored if you post beginner questions, or get bad answers if the contents of your message don't agree with the "spirit" of the members. I think something really big can come out from people when they are united like this :)

usetheforce2 10-02-2001, 09:20 PM hey,
i feel the same way, i've tried other sites and they don't seem to match up. No matter what level of question a user posts, that question is always answered repectfully and informative. Also, what makes this place so great also, it that the "Big guns" at the site will answer beginner posts as well. with clear and concise answers. They don't frown upon the question as a dumb question, but rather an opertunity to share some info.

Laurent 10-03-2001, 06:24 AM i do a bit like BillSoo, i log on at the beggining of the day, check for all the new post then i stay logged for the rest of the day and look every 20 minutes or so. i love helping poeple but since i'm not the greatest yet, i'm limited ! and most of all, whne the BIG GUNS come over they answer everything so you need to go quicker than them! i would say i'm actively on this site a good 2 hours of my day and it's worth it, i learn a lot from this forum and it shows in my work.
I'll be amongst the best any minute now !
pretty much the same as you Laurent, I log on when I get to work and log off when I go home, my boss doesn't know that, but it's improving my VB skills so he has nothing to complain about
Laurent 10-03-2001, 06:58 AM Me my boss know this, it's my main VB tool, it's almost like a hammer to a construction guy!!! he prefers to see me at my desk than going for some other course and not being at the office!
I'll be amongst the best any minute now !
I am also logged in pretty much all day...hey this is where I learned VB.. from you all and I thank you...before a book was had this site taught me what I needed to know in the form of question's answered and other posts...my bossed doesnt care he asks me to ask questions sometimes to get "Big Gun" responses...so Thank you all
regards

KesleyK 10-03-2001, 09:05 AM When I'm not real busy at work (cyclical jobs, hate 'em) I usually spend about 2-3 hours active (logged in all work day) but when I'm busy I can be away for a week or more.

Timbo 10-03-2001, 08:46 PM ok - ok! I'm a hopeless addict, when I get bored of what I'm doing (pretty frequent!) I sneak a quick refresh to see if anyone's written anything new..
but as I'm on the opposite end of the time-line(s), chances are they haven't [cue the violin].
