Spike 10-08-2001, 07:14 PM I posted this to the code library, but it doesnt seem to be there...so i put it on my websapce for you to download. This program was inspired by The_Hand's Forum Status Checker. This program will get the 10 post that have been active in the VIsual Basic help forum, and link to each on directly, and will also take the Hot Topics and link to them. This program can run in the system tray, and updates every X minutes. It will notify you if there have been new post to the Viual Basic Forum. Here is a link to the zip (Source and exe)

It is not showing up because it has to be approved by a moderator first.
Since it is a link It should not go in that forum. See if you can get it under 50k. If not, then this would probably be the best place for it.

Spike 10-08-2001, 07:36 PM i had uploaded it over there, but i didnt know it had to be approved first, so i uploaded it onto my web space. The one i uploaded over there was like 49k, but missing the icon file, so i just add the icon and put it on my webspace.
Thanks for the info.

Spike 10-10-2001, 08:20 PM Version 1.3 is up for download.
http://members.home.net/theendorbunker/ForumCheck.zip
In this version, ive added a feature that will allow you to watch a post. When it refreshes the screen, if you have inputed any data into the fields, it will check that post and see how many replies it has. If there are more replies then the last check, it will notify you. Also added on the Users the ablitily to Send PM to user, Look at the profile, and view all post (As The Hand did with his, but instead of pop up menu, i used buttons). Also, there have been some minor cosmetic/small codeing changes.
Please give me feedback on it, parts to improve, etc. I dont care if any of you actually use this, but i am just useing for practice, since i am not taking any programing classes at this time.

Garrett Sever 10-10-2001, 09:46 PM The RefreshList() method in Form1 is still causing an error (as I posted earlier). I wonder if its happening to anyone else.

Garrett Sever 10-13-2001, 03:45 PM As I mentioned before, your forum checker doesn't work for me.
1) I always have to recode the "Replace" function b/c I use VB5 not VB6. I know there are several other people here that have VB5 as well.
2) Since you seem reluctant to believe my previous posts about your error, I hunted down exactly where it occurs. Screenshot is attached.
Essentially, you are looking for a color "CCCCCC" which is not in the text that is returned (for me). The first Instr() fails, which means that the second Instr generates an error (you can't start at index 0 with Instr).
Regards.
Volte 10-13-2001, 03:48 PM Uhhh.. Hand? There's no screenshot attached. Too big or something?
Garrett Sever 10-13-2001, 04:33 PM BAH! DRAT!!!
Here it is
Spike 10-13-2001, 05:36 PM OK, i fixed the problem (i think) and i redid the replace function. I need you to test to see if it works now.
http://members.home.net/theendorbunker/ForumCheck.zip
Thanks
Spike
Garrett Sever 10-13-2001, 08:05 PM Nope. Doesn't work.
I did more checking, and you aren't reading in all of the page.
Therefore it never finds the "Hot topics" string, c=0, and the whole thing happens again.
Regards
Spike 10-13-2001, 08:53 PM i really have no clue what is going on here....i let my prog run, and stoped it after it d/l the html...then i put it into a text file, looked through it, and everything was in there that was needed. I'll attach a text file of the d/l html. Do you think you can get the HTML it d/l's on your comp? If ya could, that would help me figure it out a lot easyer.
