You should not post the same question in two different forums (dy1jaw posted this in the general forum too). Pick the forum that is best suited to your question.

I refer you to the forum Guidelines (http://www.visualbasicforum.com/bbs/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=visbas&Number=38242&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1)

First, you have to identify how your lotus notes adminstrator has set up the network. Although VB has the MAPI controls to do this, it may not work. Word has it, that over 90% of Lotus Notes Sys Administrators have MAPI turned OFF! They do not allow it. Which situation are you in? If it is turned off, then you have to use Lotus Notes Automation Classes and send the e-mail from the back end.

Our company moved to Lotus Notes a year or two ago.

There is a VB interface which you can program in, however you need the Domino designer installation, not just the client installation.

In my situation, our clients already had a Lotus Notes client installation, because that is where they get their e-mail. Now, I'm assuming that in the initial request, this was the case, i.e., sending e-mail from a Lotus Notes e-mail server, etc...

If the clients already have a Lotus Notes installation and are sending e-mail this way, VB can do it all in the background without using Lotus Notes with backend automation classes.

Actually, you don't even need that. Make sure you have the "notes.tlb" file registered and you are good to go.
