{}rbulph 12-15-2003, 10:38 AM What's the proper name for curly brackets? {Anyone know?} 00100b 12-15-2003, 10:39 AM Braces (I believe). Flyguy 12-15-2003, 10:41 AM Accolades (at least in dutch that is ;)) jpaugh78 12-15-2003, 10:55 AM Square Brackets [ ] Curley Brackets { } OnErr0r 12-15-2003, 11:04 AM Curly braces, not brackets. http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curly_braces hehe.. I guess that URL tends to Disprove my point. But I'll still call them curly braces. :p 00100b 12-15-2003, 11:05 AM But is a redundancy for Braces. ;) herilane 12-15-2003, 11:06 AM Read your sources more carefully OnError :p "The term curly braces is redundant since that is the only kind of braces there are." (Wikipedia) rbulph 12-15-2003, 11:06 AM Curly braces, not brackets. http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curly_braces Wikipedia actually says that curly braces is wrong, it should just be braces. reboot 12-15-2003, 11:16 AM I think OnErr0r was pointing out the word bracket that you used was wrong. Geez. GavinO 12-15-2003, 11:20 AM I have seen two ways of describing grouping punctuation, the verbose way and the bracket way: {}=braces=curly brackets []=brackets=square brackets ()=parentheses=round brackets <>=?=angle brackets I personally prefer the verbose way because I don't draw them in a particularly 'curly' fashion :P |
