SW Poll (I just couldn't help it)

Just thought I'd clarify my vote (ESB).

The Phantom Menace
Good film when seen as leader for the 9 film set. Spoiled by the cutesy gungan's. The lack of grit is fair, I think, as it is set in a time when things are generally nicer.

A New Hope
Best film when viewed as a stand alone effect. The most complete story.

The Empire Strikes Back
Not watchable on its own but when viewed in the context of ANH and ROTJ then it becomes the most important in terms of character development. And the Hoth scenes are great.

Return of the Jedi
I my opinion, the worst of the original three. Too action oriented and also many plot holes (if you were the Emperor, would you go to space station that is a prime target for the rebels?). And the Ewoks? What on Earth were they about!

I like ANH the best, although I'm more of a book fan. I just love the books....I, Jedi happens to be my favourite.

I also like the books. I must put my hand up here to owning all of them!
My favourite is the original Timothy Zahn series. Thrawn is the perfect empire military character.

You bring up a good point...images/icons/smile.gif My favourite author would be Michael Stackpole, as he did create Corran Horn, my fav. SW character...

I think Stackpole's stories were a little heavy on the space combat (which I don't mind incidentally). Unless you've played the games its hard to get into the action.

I actually quite liked Darth Maul as a potential character. I think they were wrong to kill him in TPM. He would have made an interesting temptation for Obi Wan to stray to the darkside (revenge anyone?).
