chat application over proxy

hello friends, i have developed a simple chat messenger. It uses winsock control to do text chatting. This program is working Smooth on my PCs but it does not works over Proxies!!! Anybody who has already done such thing before or has Any Idea how i can make my chat application to work on proxies too???

The Chat client has to be able to see the Chat server. Otherwise requests will need to be forwarded through the Proxy to the Chat servers IP address.
