VB6 apps work on XP?burningodzilla 11-20-2001, 07:19 AM the subject says it all. i was just wondering if code compiled in VB6 will run on XP...i've heard a few curious things... Banjo 11-20-2001, 07:23 AM Should do. From what I understand, XP still uses the Win32 API as its base. The .NET stuff if is just bolted on much like the VB runtime. Volte 11-20-2001, 06:39 PM Yes, being an XP owner myself, I can tell you that VB apps will run on WindowsXP. I don't really think that there is anything that won't run on WindowsXP that will run on Win98\2K. cyclonebri 11-21-2001, 09:59 AM I just switched to XP at home and at work, and so far all my VB apps have transferred successfully, in fact everything that I have made in Visual Studio seems to work just like before...I have found something that DOESN'T work in XP, and that is the Windows 2K administration tools with the exception of Terminal Services...things Like Active Directory will not load...So, in order to use them I have to terminal service to the Remote server...I really hope that Microsoft will fix this soon. It's rather annoying! |
