not showing index.html

If you surf on the internet and go to a site, you always automatically get the index.html file (if you don't specify another). Is there a way to view everything in the directory, like when you enter a dir without index.html (so ignoring the index-file)?

Short of doing something illegal the answer is no.

It's a feature of the webserver to add "index.html" or "default.html" to an URL which doesn't specify the file to open.
So, as CL said before, the answer is NO

If there is an index.htm or default.asp in the directory, or whatever else the webmaster has configured, you'll get that.

I just wrote an ASP script to act as an explorer-type thing for a website, which works quite well. Perhaps you could do that.
