Connecting to Database

Hi,
I am very new to vb and i need ur help.

I connected to database and retrieved datas to the forms(textboxes) by using Dataset and recordsource.
Everything i did was thro design window not by coding.

I was wondering how i can i connect to data base ,retrieve datas to the textboxes thro coding.I could see many coding in this forums but i really got confused which coding i need to use.

I will greatly appreciate ur reply.
