I could not live without this forum. It has saved my *** on numerous occasions and my thanks head out to you guys who do a great job of maintaning it. I would like to put a thought out there though.
I am constantly on the road with my laptop and find myself coding and hacking little programs together. The problem I tend to have is that i'll come across something / a problem that i've encountered before but can't remember the solution. If i'm in the office a quick log on and search through this site provides 80% of the answers but when I have no net connection it's difficult. Ideally I'd like to have a off-line version of this site where I could download the odd thread to and keep on the laptop. At the moment I do a lot of cutting a pasting into a noddy database that I knocked together but i'm getting sick of cutting and pasting (specially if the thread is massive). Any body got any suggestions/ideas on the subject of an off-line forum?

Easiest way would be to add it to your favorites; then go into favorites, organize, select it, and check "Make available offline". Haven't messed with this too much, so you'll have to experiment with it a bit.

Not a bad idea but I would loose the search facility. Not bad for a couple of posts but I'd like to store things like the random thoughts forum amongst others which would add a hell of a lot of files to my comp which would be a nightmare to search through and profile. Ideally a simple version of this site or external program that I could import into would be fantastic. Anybody developed anything like this? A simple code knowledge base?

To use the search facility you'd need access to the database of posts and threads. If you had that, it would be relatively simple to convert the scripts to work locally....

A program containing all the useful stuff sounds like the best idea, but even that would be a mammoth task to put together.
