Which explain why You, who have english as the first language, can understand when the the rest of the world try to write in english :)

Or perhaps not :D

Saying that a Geordie has English as a first language is stretching things a little surely :p

The term "You" does not necessarily cover a Geordie ;)

Actually I just live in Yorkshire, well Hull, so that would be worse. However, I an in fact a posh Southerner. From Surrey to be (sort of) precise.

I was down your way the other day, Banjo, up in Briddlington for a day out - just a bit of R&R.

The interesting thing is that it doesn't even effect the spelling mistakes people make. :p

By the way, we're not going to have every junkmail classic in RT now, are we? :-\

As an employee or a private contractor?

If the former then: You poor sod.
If the latter then: You're in the money, you're in the money!

Let me put it this way: I'm a poor sod! :(

I have to admit, though - it's a nice stable job. The unfortunate thing, though, is that I have to put up with all of the stupid petty rivalries, politics and so on... That kind of makes it a joke, really.

Yeah, that's always the problem with working in an bureaucracy. My Mum works for the Forestry Commission and she has to put up with the same rubbish.

Must be infuriating though when you get a note saying that you need to cut back on IT spending but that note has been passed down through 10 thousand levels of management!

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.

A few months back I ordered a 256MB memory stick, and it took 3 months for it to "go through the processes". I didn't dare ask our techies to install it, as that would mean going through a "Work Request Process", which would take another couple of months!

I've identified a serious bug with Oracle ODBC that locks users accounts when their passwords expire. The only problem is (even though I've researched the problem, and found the solution) the tech team will not do the job as they've got too much work on. So, 70 users every month continually ring the tech team to have their passwords reset.......

Yep - I can really sympathise with your mum, Banjo.
