Little server help.

Okay I have IIS 5.1 that came with Windows XP Pro. I set up a default page just to test it and I can reach it by typing //localhost

That means that typing in my PC IP address will now take people to that page. The problem with this is that my pc is behind a router.

I set up a DNS so lets say my web name www.mysite.com points to my ip. Problem is that when someone types this in it brings up my router setup screen (which is luckily passworded)

Does this mean I am going to have to do some tricky setup that gives my pc's static ip's from the router or something? I have a Linksys BEFSR41 4-port cable/dsl router.

Any tips to get me started? Would love to start playing with ASP and doing my own web pages.

You can still test and run all the ASPs locally through the Personal Web Manager...

To setup external visits, I don't know how.

You'll have to configure your router so that it forwards incoming traffic on port 80 to your internal ip to port 80 or whatever port your webserver is running!

Under Linux this is done with ipchaines or iptables...
