PS: Just been reading an article that described the date arithmetic bungles they made with Excel! :chuckle: It all makes sense now ...... Gar 05-21-2004, 06:25 AM hey mathimagics could you post a link to the article? pretty please! Antariksh 05-21-2004, 08:01 AM Sorry to spoil the fun... Whats Longhorn? reboot 05-21-2004, 08:09 AM Microsofts code name for the next version of Windows. rufen101 05-21-2004, 08:10 AM Here's some info about Longhorn.. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/longhorn/default.mspx Jamirez 05-21-2004, 08:33 AM As far as I know about Longhorn, we don't have powerful enought computers to run it at home. Intel, AMD, ATI and all others are going nuts right now because Micro$oft expectations from next generation computers are REALLY BIG! HardCode 05-21-2004, 09:28 AM Well, I haven't seen Windows get any faster/needier of horsepower in a LONG time. The only [common] programs taking full advantage of the increased hardware power over the past years are 3D games. Otherwise, Windows is just "using a jackhammer to drive a nail." Antariksh 05-21-2004, 10:58 AM Horse Power? How about a 1000 cc engine? Banjo 05-21-2004, 11:10 AM It's not that bad. We've had the longhorn alpha/beta (I can't remember which it was) running on a 500Mhz PII with 256MB of RAM. Ok, it was torturously sluggish, but that PC is at least 6 times slower than a currently specified one. Otac0n 05-21-2004, 02:27 PM How the hell did u get a beta? rick_deacha 05-21-2004, 02:52 PM How the hell did u get a beta? Perhaps they are Microsoft Beta Testers... MikeJ 05-21-2004, 03:03 PM Or have MSDN Universal Subscriptions ibmnetvista 05-21-2004, 03:31 PM As far as I know about Longhorn, we don't have powerful enought computers to run it at home. Intel, AMD, ATI and all others are going nuts right now because Micro$oft expectations from next generation computers are REALLY BIG! as they should be. and every one else especially the people that are designing the new genration of pc's rick_deacha 05-21-2004, 03:39 PM I heard a Linux´s Lover said that Lonhorn will become the Microsoft´s Unix Emulator Banjo 05-22-2004, 03:55 AM Hardly. I don't think that they could be more different. Antariksh 05-22-2004, 03:58 AM if Xp looks like agarden, UNIX is a graveyard. Thats the TRUTH Mathimagics 05-22-2004, 05:00 PM hey mathimagics could you post a link to the article? pretty please!
