MIDI Making with/without the keyboard.

I couldn't decide whether the title should say "with" or "without".

My question is, is it possible to record MIDI songs with a certain program with use of the computer keyboard and not a musical one, or at least you get my point. Can I make MIDI with what I've got? Thanks!

Hmm... as of right now, I canot remember the name of the program, but it allowed you to either hook a MIDI Keyboard to your computer OR use the mouse to click notes on the music bars... I used it a little bit, but I have negative musical talent...

I've got a really cool program that makes midis, it's old but it's really nice. You can use your keyboard or mouse to hit the keys. It's called Presto. I'll upload it if you like but I can't know. I'll try later today.

Opps I forgot. Here it is.
I also included a midi I made (thomas.mid) and a midi my friend made (new, mid). His is better than mine. :( But it's cool.

I got an error that the file was to big to download so I'll upload it to my website. http://www.geocities.com/thecornmaster/presto.zip

If you can read the musical staff, there is a program called Record Session. I bought the 16 bit version back before Windows 95 was released, but i seen the 32 bit version advertised once.
In the 16 bit version (which works on 32 bit systems also)of Record Session, you have a pallette with all the different types of notes (Whole Note, Half Note...)which you can click and drag onto the staff which creates the midi note. You have 16 tracks (either number 10 or number 16 is reserved for drums), and you can set any 1 of 127 instruments to each track. You can create as many Staffs as you have memory (I think), You can set the staffs to treble, bass, 1 octve above treble, or 1 octave below bass clefs and select the scale for each.

It has about every kind of editing tool you can think of, the biggest downfall is it wont let you bend or slide notes.
If you record something with a bent tone, it takes a best guess at the note when you open it with the program. I paid $49 for the 16 bit version years ago, it was worth the fun.
I am not sure of the 32 bit version price, you will need to check the Microsoft (Midisoft) web site.
