Ok hi everyone i'm lookin for a guide line of some sort of how to better my programming skills. What i'm lookin for are programs or games that i should begin to create and what languages i should use to start myself off. But i need a way to progress i'm kind of not sure where to go right now, the first language i learned was Turbo Pascal which was basic enough and i'm very fluent in it i also know a bit of C, VB (also know the basics of networking in vb like simple chat programs in winsock), a little java and a little basic.
But i would like some ideas for programs or games to make that range from very easy to very difficult. so i can progress and learn the basics (of course i will be reading tutorials and what not, if you know any exceptional sites for learning certain languages it would be much appreciated) i would also like to know of any other languages that would be good to start off with.
Thank you for you info.

Ah another old TP user. :)
I'll go with the obvious answer and say Dot Net languages C#,VB, Java, Etc... They will be the future. They are sufficiently different from their predecessors to keep you occupied for sometime. ASP Web and database is big in industry as well.
Depends on your reasons. Job, Fun, Education.

Gleep! You don't need us to tell you what would be a cool or self improving project. You know your current limits. Either pick something in an area you don't know or find an idea that you can sink your teeth into. Look at your friends and observe what you could do to better they lives.
Have you looked at the forum area for possible projects?

I'm not a beginner to programming but i'm still a novice. I'm still having trouble with my first word processor (MDI). However, i need to know where to go next, what kind of project should i undertake next. i need to do something that is not 'over my head' but at the same time, its above my current level so that i can learn and improve.
What do you suggest?
(this question applies to anyone who reads it - haha)

As Gruff says, You know your current limits - we don't. We don't know what you can and can't do at the moment.
Then read the thread Gruff links to. That's 10 pages' worth of discussion of possible project ideas. We really don't need another thread for the same topic.
