Hi Everyone.

Recently I was looking for an application that would automatically add line numbers into my vb app, and I've heard "mztools" come up a couple of times. However, "mztools" does a lot more than just add line numbers... and it makes additions to the VB interface. I may install "mztools", but I wanted to know if there was anyone out there that has used this. What is it particularly you like or don't like about it ?
(go ahead, be specific! :D)

Thanks,
diver

The most usefull things for me:
1. (un)comment a block of code with ALT-1 and ALT-2
2. Finding dead code and variables

It has a really nice tabindex assistant. (My personal favorite).

You can clear the immediate window with it.

It has a copy/paste controls (with code) feature. (Handy).

A task list that stays in the .vbp.

Project statistics, number of controls, lines of code, modules, forms, etc.

Collection Review.

There's more but... these are about all I use and can vouch for.

Generally very useful. For example you get a search facility for the whole project. However one of the other developers in our dept installed version 3 and this messed up his IDE a bit. So I am sticking to version 2 for the moment.

I have 2.0 installed. I downloaded 3, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. What exactly does "messed up his IDE mean"? :)

I'm running MZTools 3.0 but it only added a toolbar.

I installed mztools3 for vba but had trouble using any of the tools. (Probably throught my own fault rather than any compatability problems but hey...)

A few of the icons on the menu had disappered, I don't think any functionality was lost though. Small graphic glitches only.

Generally it is very good, but there is one bug that is still floating around. It can disable the Make Group option on the File Menu. Not drastic, but annoying if you use that feature a lot.

I've never had any problems with it myself...

Anyway, some other useful things are reload from file, combine/split lines (useful for making API functions that were multiple lines one-line, or vice versa), sort procedures, and procedure favorites(allows quick access to subs/functions, useful in big projects).

Ver 2.0

Never had a problem. (I don't use it to its fullest)

- Statistics

- Copy/Paste Controls with code

- Tab Index Assistant

It would be cool if it worked in Access.

No support for any version of VB except VB6 so far....... oh woe is me, woe is me... :(

I think it's great! I use it often. I like the procedure adding -- if you're adding a Property, it will automatically add a member varible and stuff. Much more customizable than the VB built in one.

I also like the fact that it's not obtrusive. The only time it does anything is if you tell it too; there are no automatic functions.
