Maggott 08-11-2004, 05:36 PM Just thought y'all might be interested in this, since game development is one of the fashions on this forum and we're all tired of people asking for people to code their MMORPGs for them...

Denaes 08-11-2004, 05:53 PM Here's what I got
You are a bitter and cynical husk of a man!
Congratulations, you will probably pull this off, because you know just how horrible game production really is. You probably wake up screaming at night and you already know the odds of failure even at this level are high. Nonetheless, the agony of previous failures has taught you enough to actually finish a decent percentage of your projects.
noi_max 08-11-2004, 06:06 PM I got the same result. I think I will lie to it some and see what kind of rediculous answer I can get. :D
[update] Ok, how do I put it nicely... with the general attitude of people who have no experience and want to make an MMORPG in mind, I decided to re-take the test. Here are the results:
DOOMED!
Your project is doomed to failure. You will never even complete an alpha version or release a demo. You will do nothing but talk about how cool the game will be and make plans you will never be able to carry out, even until the stars die (or you lose interest).
If you want my advice, stop thinking about what the game is going to be and start worrying about what the game is right now.
Denaes 08-11-2004, 06:19 PM I tried to be doomed, but apparently it didn't work :)
Iceplug 08-11-2004, 06:21 PM Hmm, I must not be very good, because I got this:
Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. ;)
OK, now I got this:
Maybe. You may actually finish this...
I don't need a quiz to tell me how I am :p.
Maggott 08-11-2004, 07:32 PM Oh, man, Iceplug...it only does that to people who's hearts are filled with the blackest of evil.
Incidentally, it did it to me the first time, too. Just hit reload.
William_Cain 08-12-2004, 07:10 AM I got:
Maybe. You may actually finish this. It will take a lot of elbow grease, but you're not being too retarded about it and your answers show you have at least some nominal experience (or at least have listened to enough bitter and cynical old hobbyists to know what you can't do.) If you keep at it long after it's ceased being fun and long after you've ceased to care about the project, you will succeed.
Vadon 08-12-2004, 10:38 AM I got doomed, but hey whatever. I'm just our project's artist and its doing pretty well. :)... though our main programmer is distracted with another project for a little while he still works on our game. ^_^
Vega la Luce 08-13-2004, 07:58 AM great...funny......i've doomed!!!!!!
ok i'm going to elaborate a nice trash program
ZooTV 08-13-2004, 09:18 AM I had to lie in all questions, I'm not planning to make a game :p.... and I'm not doomed. :)
MikeJ 08-14-2004, 10:49 AM Huh... I'm doomed on a game that all I have to do is make the setup file... Oh well.
Of course, I haven't made that setup file in about a year and a half, so maybe they are on to something...
Vadon 08-14-2004, 10:54 AM I think thats a pretty good test if your about to start a project, but if your doing it and are pretty much ready for the first version, no its not ^_^.
