usetheforce2 02-11-2002, 01:50 PM hey all,
Gotta love Microsoft! :P. Trying to take away more of our freedom.
What happened to the handy "Send To" folder that could be found the "Windows" folder? I loved it, we could paste any short cut in there, such as "notepad" and send a file to that application with a few clicks. Now it seems that Microsoft (with XP) wants us to use the "Open With" option??
Call me lazy, but i hate scrollling down the list of applications to find "NotePad" to send my file too.
I did a search for the "Send to " folder, but it doesn't exist:( It just disappeard like fart in the wind. ("shawshank redemtion")
Any ideas??

Thinker 02-11-2002, 02:02 PM I know nothing about XP, but from my experience from NT, I
wonder if there is a Profiles\username directory under your
windows directory that would contain the SendTo directory?
usetheforce2 02-11-2002, 03:39 PM hey Thinker,
yes, found it!
path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\SendTo
but the weird thing is that it would show up in a search ???
thanks, Regan
divil 02-12-2002, 02:48 AM Perhaps you put a space in your search.
OR, perhaps its Microsoft trying to take away all your freedom and not even be able to search any more! Perhaps they're watching you right now! Perhaps its all a big conspiracy!
Robby 02-12-2002, 06:03 PM I'm on Win2K, I do same thing with Notepad and SendTo.....
Since we're on the topic of XP, Is there anyone that has
experienced both? What does XP have that 2K does not?
And don't send me to MS to read what they have to say. (I did that already, they won't knock 2K to sell XP).
wild wolf 02-13-2002, 01:24 AM hmmm i will say they stole the login and logoff interface from Apple Mac :D but 1 thing is for sure, its fast when it comes to bootup ( flaw - very slow when reading devices such as CD-Rom and Floppy), hmmm nice kiddish interface and all those kinda things that will make it look good but but it cant be compared to win2K Pro, the network setup for Coaxial cables for peer-to-peer connection is one hell of a problem, setup cannot be started directly, u got to install 98 or win2k first then upgrade it, hmmm what else........but inspite of all this iam still using it, why? coz i paid a fortune for the original full version so i cant just discard it :D
divil 02-13-2002, 02:32 AM >hmmm i will say they stole the login and logoff interface from Apple Mac
No they didn't, they took customer input and created an easier-to-use interface.
> but 1 thing is for sure, its fast when it comes to bootup
Yep, drivers are now loaded concurrently at bootup, making it much faster. It works out the best combination over several attempts.
> ( flaw - very slow when reading devices such as CD-Rom and Floppy)
No it isn't.
> hmmm nice kiddish interface and all those kinda things that will make it look good but but it cant be compared to win2K Pro
Why not? It is noticeably faster than Windows 2000, looks better (even without the skins turned on), and is even more stable and helpful. If a program crashes, it will tell Microsoft how it happened and they can then fix it.
> the network setup for Coaxial cables for peer-to-peer connection is one hell of a problem
I have found no problem, it is just the same as it ever was. Of course, some things have moved around in the control panel, but that is to improve ease of use.
> setup cannot be started directly, u got to install 98 or win2k first then upgrade it
Wrong again, you can start setup directly just like you could with the win2k setup. You can boot from the cd, or run it from a DOS prompt if you have a bootdisk.
Windows XP is a great OS, and the natural progression for Windows 2000. Windows 2000 is good enough for Windows XP not to be an essential upgrade, but I say it's well worth the money.
Just my $0.02.

Actually, I wouldn't doubt that it didn't show up. I've had lotsa weird things not show up in searches... Maybe 'cuz SendTo is a hidden folder?
