I 've been unable to access this site for several days now:
"The Joy of VB - Bio-Logic for the Business Age"
www.joyofvb.com
This was their old site:
www.joyvb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

I was hoping it was just temporary due to a Florida hurricane (PSC went down for a while but came back).

I really like their fractal flowers page:
www.joyofvb.com/JVB_FractalFlowers.htm

...and his GA (Genetic Algorithm) coding page:
http://www.joyofvb.com/JVB_GeneticCoding.htm

Has anyone heard anything?

Try the Internet archive: WayBack Machine (http://web.archive.org/)

Man that sucks, it was a really excellent site. If it's only the domain name that's expired then maybe we can still access the site through its IP address. No one happens to know its IP address do they? Or how to obtain it?

If they have chosen not to renew their domain, I doubt seriously that they are continuing to have the site hosted somewhere. It just wouldn't make any sense.

Thanks to all who posted...

To Flyguy - Thanks, I was already using that (as well as the Google cache)
To Rashka - I ran the same check, I was hoping they'd switched to a new domain..
To lebb - I hope you're wrong and the content comes back online (maybe with another domain name). Sometimes people just run out of money temporarily, and don't have enough money to renew domains-- much less pay monthly hosting fees..

To Dex: Totally agree. It sucks :(
How many other sites do you know that deal with the VB6 "Biologic"?

To other others who might read this thread:
I know websites come and go, but I have a database of many VB sites and I've noticed a distrubing trend. VB6 sites going away. Some convert over to VB.Net and leave their VB6 stuff archived, but a few do not. The rest are just dead links and expired domains. Here's a page of with alot of old VB site links...check how many of the links are dead:
http://www.cbel.com/visual_basic_programming_language/

Others seem to be struggling (like DirectX4VB that recently how a down-age). I wouldn't be so worried if there were a whole lot of VB.Net sites popping up to take their place, but I'm not seeing that. I worry that people switching over to VisualStudio.Net may decide to go C++ or C# (because they have to learn almost a whole new language anyway in moving to VB.Net).

Well, VB6er's will always have this forum. :)

Yes, you're right. All I meant was, the domain renewal should be a significantly lower expense than hosting, and at least an equal priority to renew, so it seemed unlikely that they would continue to pay for hosting with no domain to host.

I agree too that C# seems to be the language of choice in the .NET world. On the bright side, though, C# and VB.NET are so similar in terms of basic structure that any VB.NET programmer should be able to follow C# code and vice versa.

You are right, it is a disturbing trend that sites dedicated to VB6 are disapearing and nothing is taking the places. Another thing that concerns me...I might be mistaken, but I have been told that the whole .NET is just a framework. Which means programmers are no longer dealing at the basic levels? Are we just dealing with the interfaces now? VB has always been able to deal with the computer at certain levels, as well as other languages, some languages at a more basic level than others. If all you are dealing with is a framework, are the languages as powerful now? I have all these questions because I have yet to switch to anything .NET, if you can alleiviate my concerns, please do so.
