I've been LDS/Mormon all my life, and I've been wondering what an outsiders view on my religon is - as well as straighten out any misconceptions. (we don't practice polygamy as is commonly thought).

Thanks for any posts.

It's very hard to say anything negative about mormons. All the ones I've met have been good living people. I couldn't live without tea, coffee and alcohol, even though I'd be better for it. Also I'm more of the agnostic leaning by nature. However I'm sure you get all sorts of mormons in Utah just like you get all sorts of Hindus in India or Muslims in Arabia or Jews in Israel.

Thanks for your input.
St. George Utah is about 80-90 percent Mormon - and yes, there are all kinds, good and bad.

The media give Mormons a bad image and even if there are cults who believe in the religion they make it sound as if all are practicing/condoning these activities. All of the Mormons I know are very nice and if the media portrayed these worshipers instead of the cults most people wouldn't have these false realizations of Mormons.

I Live in Belgium as you all know, and we don’t have (m)any Mormons here. I have had the luck to meet a few on some kind of pilgrimage when I was young (now 20 years ago). The real purpose of there trip now eludes me and I can’t even remember their names but I still can remember their faces and the way we all sat in the park talking and singing. I must admit I have yet to find the time to read your holly scriptures, if there are any.

I myself was raised Christian and lost all my faith 12 years ago. I turned to the Buddhist way of life since 5 years and it suits me as one of my hobbies along side with programming is religion. I read the Christian bible (OT en NT) cover to cover. I read many but far from all Buddhist books (Sutra’s) and now I am reading the Koran.

I wonder why, until this post I forgot about the Mormon religion as it still think of the meeting with this faith and friendly and open. Could you propose a few books that I could read to gain more insight?

Thanks Napivo
