I am sure that some members of the forum will be interested to know that Douglas Adams’s “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Life, the Universe and Everything” is to be broadcast again on BBC Radio 4.

This is a new adaptation. The “Guide” started life on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. It has not, as far as I know, been broadcast since.

If you are a fan or would like to acquaint yourself with it for the first time the details are as follows:

BBC Radio 4.
Tuesday 21 September
18:30 BST
And each Tuesday after that for 6 episodes.

Listen on line at

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/index.shtml?logo
You will (I think) be able to replay each episode for at least a week after broadcast by accessing the same site.

The answer is 42! :chuckle:

Also I believe the film is finally in production. Hopefully Zaphod's second head will be more realistinc with CGI than it was in the TV series :D

The new series are follow-ups (books 3 to 5) not a remake of the old ones. :)

Yes, I hope it's as good as the original series. (Showing my age!) Most of the cast are the same I gather, though sadly Peter Jones has since died, so William Franklin is providing the voice of the book. :)

Not sure how the HHGTTG film version will work out though... can they condense a rambling sprawling saga into two hours successfully? :-\

How interesting that this has popped up. Just last week I was going through some boxes that have been in storage for the past 8 years and I found my orignial HHGTTG trilogy books on tape. While I never saw the orginal TV show I have been fan for many years. I'm sure folks were wondering what was going on as I was laughing my eyes out driving down the road listening to the tapes.

I've always hoped there would be a movie version, I hope it doesn't get cut to shreads to fit into 120min. Perhaps they'll maintain the integrity and make 3 movies (or 4 or 5 or....) I mean hey Harry Potter did it

My ramblings, thanks for listening

Bart
