Quirky Uninstall Problem

Recently while in the testing stage of converting a VB app to VB.Net I encountered some quirky behavior with unistalling the application. After fixing minor problems that the tester had found with the application I would unistall the previous version through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and then install the new version with the corrections.

All went without any issues the first few times, then all of a sudden Unistall was no longer an option for this app. If I clicked the link for Support Information I could Repair the application to get the most recent version and was able to get by that way during testing.

It was bugging me though, so I kept doing research and finally found a reference for uninstalling applications that were installed with .msi files. By using Start|Run, typing in Installer, then adding the Titles to the display I was able the find the .msi file used for my application. Right clicking on it gave the me the option to uninstall. At this point I was informed that I had insufficient privledges to uninstall the application and would need to log in as an administrator. Once I logged in as an administrator I was able to uninstall the application without any problems.

Has anyone else run into the situation before? Any ideas as to why a user that didn't have administrative rights would suddenly not be able to uninstall an application that they had previously had no problems installing/uninstalling?
