I was wondering if anyone knew of a place (like Mircosoft's site), where I could download a freeware version of VB.NET, since I'm broke right now :(

Try Microsoft's site. You can download the .net sdk, which includes all the .Net compilers. No GUIs though. Although, I doubt any of them will come close to the superb debugging of the .NET environment though... :) Oh well, you get what you pay for.
