Hello everyone,
till now I have used only Visual Basic 6 for my programmation. Now I am trying to shift to Visual Basic .Net. I have the two cds of Visual Studio .Net. It seems to be a complication.

There are 3 steps. I am not able to understand the first step of installing the Windows Components.
I have Windows 2000 SP 4 in my computer. I have tried to install the .Net Framework also.
Can anyone pls help me to understand the steps of intallation of Visual Studio .Net'

Thanks.

Isn't it an automated process? You just have to click the next button a few times. Or are you talking about you have to download some components and install them? The everything necessary including the .net framework should be available on your Visual Studio discs.

During the installation the setup demands Windows Components for Visual Studio .Net. I am not able to understand it.

I think it is a must to have windows 2000, XP, or server 2003 to use VS.net. Windows 98se and higher can use the .net framework to run programs but I don't know if they can be used to develop on. Are you sure your system meets the requirements of your version of VS?

thanks for your concern.
As I told in my msg I have Win 2000 with SP4.
The requirements are met properly.
I repeat to say that during the installation the setup automatically searches for the drive where Windows Components of VS.Net are.
It seems to be strange... isn't it?

Some versions of Visual Studio probably have their own bugs that are different from others. Try searching http://microsoft.com for more info about VS 2002 problems. Do you know what Windows components it wants? or doesn't it tell you? Mabey you could try doing windows update?

You need the VB.NET pre-requzites (s/p?) disc, along with the vb.net cd's. You do not need the MSDN library discs, they are just the help files.
