Hello,
I have been looking at the way programs are designed and noticed how visual basic sections the toolbars from each other. Is there a component in vb that will allow me to do this myself?

Thanks,

Sam

Not natively, but you could build you own "floating toolbar" using a form and the toolbar control. Some parts of doing this are a tad tricky, but not real hard.

are there any examples of this practice?

When I typed "floating toolbar" into the search window for this forum, I got 13 hits. When I typed in "floating toolbar" and "visual basic" into goggle, I got 587 hits. I know there are examples out there because many years ago, when I attemped my first floating toolbar, I found a number of examples to get me going.

I believe you could accomplish what you want using a coolbar control.

You will find that control in the Microsoft Windows Common Controls-3 6.0 (SP6) component. I don't know if it's available in previous versions.

Hope this helps.

samThat is actually the easy part. Do a search for code relating to making a form always on top, or the top most window.
