I am trying to mimic the style of the system treeview in order to create a tree for a site I have ftped to. While I can extract the icons from the shell32.dll and create the tree that way, the folder icons do not match up to those used by windows xp. I have tried working through examples with using XP styles, but the folder icons never look the same. To be more specific, I am trying to find the icons for the folders used in windows explorer. If anyone can give me hints on where to go this this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

You could always print screen the folders and make a 16x16 icon that way. Not very elegant I know, but it will save you searching for the actual icon used.

"print screen and make your own icons" is the graphical equivilant of hard coding.

Dont do it!!!!!

If you want advice on how to extarct icons from the system image list there is a good article at http://www.vbaccelerator.com/home/VB/Code/Controls/ImageList/System_Image_List/article.asp

Even though that would be the programatically correct option, if the user is on anything other than XP, he won't get the pretty icons. I guess you could argue this as a pro and a con.

There are many icon packs floating around containing the standard XP icons, but I think SteRobson's option would be the easiest.
