Suggestion to use resource file

i have the necessity to make a resource file with a lot of images (about 1000) and another resource file with a lof of video(about 200).
Can i embed thi resource file in my exe (i use vb6)?
If yes, the .exe is too large and so very very slow, or not?
if i leave the resource file out of the exe the performance are better?
and finally
if i have large resource file load an image or video from it is slow??

The resources added to the project using the Resource Manager are embedded in the .EXE. It obviously makes an greater EXE.
The performance: the resources that you have in memory are faster than file ones. I think if you are opening and closing resources each time you need them is slower than having them in memory and using them as you need. But depending on the usage or the size of your project is better to use them separately.
