We finally started programming at school and I am doing well. We have a pretty good teacher, but he doesnt seem to know much about programming, and sometimes I have to tell him how to do somethings. Is this bad?

Pookie 03-15-2002, 12:55 AM Guess it would only be bad if he gave you bad marks cause of his own in compentency. It's not uncommon to see people in jobs now-a-days who really shouldn't be there.... oh well. :-\ Kitaiko 03-15-2002, 01:13 AM Originally posted by Lord Pookie It's not uncommon to see people in jobs now-a-days who really shouldn't be there.... oh well. :-\ lol - easy for you to say Robby 03-15-2002, 01:20 AM I guess if you don't say it in a condesending tone. A couple of years ago I took a bunch of programming classes and this happened on a daily basis. I still ended up being the teachers' pet in all of them. One of them even gave me a contract worth $30,000. ChiefRedBull 03-15-2002, 02:13 AM In my practical classes at college where we actually do some programming, I'm years ahead of my teacher. He sits at his desk, playing on his laptop, and I take the class. If people have problems, they come and ask me first, then him if I can't do it. But if I can't do it.... there's very little chance he can :D So yeh, I tell him how to do stuff to, he obviously doesn't like it, but I'm as nice as possible... As long as you're nice about it, he shouldn't mind. Squirm 03-15-2002, 02:20 AM Same with me, my tutor thinks VB == VBA == Access == Laziness. Therefore its all Pascal here. Well, could be worse I guess. :-\ I should be at a comp class now, but I can afford to bunk off..... :D Sid 03-18-2002, 07:50 PM Don't worry, I'm the same! There's some things I ask about that he say's isn't possible, yet a couple of weeks later I work it out and tell him. All he does is stand there with a dum found look on his face! A while ago in class, a boy's floppy disk wouldn't work. So my teacher proceeded to replaced the whole floppy drive. It turns out that the problem was the disk was stuffed, not the floppy drive! Talk about dum! :D John 03-18-2002, 08:04 PM Let me just say, I wish I had a chance to take programming when I was in school. You should be glad you at least have that opportunity, they still don't have that in the schools where I live and I don't know a single person here who knows how to program. It would really be nice to have someone around who knew or even had an intrest in learming how to program as it would help my learning immensely. As long as you try to out do the teacher you are sure to learn more things, be proud of yourself for knowing some things the teacher doesn't. I know I was proud of myself when I took some college courses and was able to do a couple things the instructor didn't know about, or think I could handle the knowledge and said he didn't know for the sake of simplicity. There is my thoughts Orbity Kitaiko 03-18-2002, 10:20 PM Before we started programming at school, no-one I knew, knew how to program, so I forced them to. |
