Actually, I was introduced to VB at 11, only started reading on it and that type of stuff around closer to age 13; maybe even 13. Roughly 9 months altogether of serious VB learning, but I'm running into a lot of math blocks such as trigonometry and that type of stuff (8th grade). Volte 03-19-2002, 07:58 PM 14, started programming at about 2 (sort of, really lightweight stuff), started VBing at 6 or 7. Garrett Sever 03-19-2002, 08:35 PM LOL "Ancient" Nice. Thou must remebereth to speaketh to the old one in the old tongue, lest ye not be understood :p Spike 03-19-2002, 08:53 PM 17 here Timbo 03-19-2002, 09:53 PM ..a case of the "ancient" dog teaching (nearly) all the new tricks eh? Still, with 12 years of solid experience behind VF, you've got a few of the pups hot on your tail Hand!... :D ;) oh, BTW: I'm a globe-trotting 28... darned kids r'makin' me feel old! Kitaiko 03-19-2002, 09:59 PM Im 15 Kitaiko 03-19-2002, 10:01 PM What? 2 yrs old? Code_Clown 03-19-2002, 11:46 PM 21, started vb about 4 months ago-- VB_ACK 03-20-2002, 01:08 AM I'm 19, I have been programming in VB since I was 14 and find it very easy and straight forward to use. My latest project is currently learning to program in C++. I have always felt that VB was insuffucent in the flexibility I demanded. Ack, that and I do not want to be dependant on something Microsoft owns. I am currently terroising my school network. Pookie 03-20-2002, 01:18 AM I'm in my mid to latish 20's... It's funny as the older you get, the less accurate your age needs to be! :D Been programming since I was 12, so that's like around 15 years now! gallicus 03-20-2002, 02:04 AM 31 in a month or so. I feel old. Come on there must be some more oldies out there. :( when I was 14/15 I think I was still using a spectrum! Flyguy 03-20-2002, 02:18 AM I started programming on the Atari 600XL (age 16), so that must be some years ago :D Robby 03-20-2002, 02:25 AM The old guy here, 41  Banjo 03-20-2002, 03:31 AM 23 Pookie 03-20-2002, 03:46 AM I started programming on the Amstrad CPC 464 (64k of memory, like the C64) at the age of 12, learnt Basic on it then learnt Assembly soon after and used the two together and made some wonder first games. :) The CPC was so old, it had a tape drive instead of a floppy drive. :D Iceplug 03-20-2002, 07:07 AM I saw a three-year old somewhere on the forums.:-\ Where did it go to? I have been 10 years old for 8 years!:) By the way, don't forget that some don't reveal their true age. divil 03-20-2002, 07:49 AM I'm 9 years old, but nearly 10!!! Pookie 03-20-2002, 07:55 AM Well it says on the forum that I'm 3 and it's also my birthday! And forums never lie.......... :D So the fact that I've been programming for 15 years now... well that would mean that I started programming at the age of -12!!!! Now that has to be a record... Funny how life works....... reboot 03-20-2002, 08:04 AM I know I'm not the only 40something on here.... so why am I the only one that voted that way? :) Thinker 03-20-2002, 08:11 AM I had to vote ancient, since it was my addition to the poll. ;) reboot 03-20-2002, 08:15 AM oh... heh... Computer_Guy 03-20-2002, 05:29 PM I'm 17, but I've only been into programming for about 1 year, since I took the course last school year (Late August, Early September 2000). But for the post at Volte about being two when he started, that was great. I think a real program for a 2 year old'd be, doing this code from my experience as a 2 year old: If EdsStomach.Empty = True Then Ed.CryForBottleAndFood TmrEdCry.Enabled = True ElseIf EdsStomach.Empty = False Then Ed.WaitACoupleOfHours End If LOL Ed stealing my lines arnt we now? wild wolf 03-21-2002, 05:21 AM 22, a year younger than Banjo but maybe some light years behind him in programming, go buddy do, ur an icon of inspiration :D Iceplug 03-21-2002, 07:35 AM Well it says on the forum that I'm 3 and it's also my birthday! And forums never lie.......... - Lord Pookie Hey! You turned 3 again! Happy Birthdays! L:oL! I started programming [...] at the age of 12 - Lord Pookie Interesting. Once upon a time, you were 12. Now you're 3. I'm in my mid to latish 20's... - Lord Pookie Something has gone terribly wrong. You are in your latish 20's and 3 at the same time, while once upon a time you were 12. L:eek:L! I know age is nothing but a number, but this is ridiculous. BTW, since when did forums never lie?:p ~1 page error~ Squirm 03-21-2002, 08:56 AM Started out on the Amstrad CPC in GWBASIC (or something similar) at about 7 or 8 years old, mainly typing in listings from computer magazines and then modifying them. Bought Visual Studio 5 when I was 14 (back in '98). Just ordered VS 6, due to arrive tomorrow. I am now 18. :D reboot 03-21-2002, 09:01 AM I was born in a little log cabin in Illinois that I built with my own hands....... gallicus 03-21-2002, 09:03 AM WOW! what OS did that run?;) Pookie 03-21-2002, 09:26 AM Well Mr IcyPlug. Because this is the internet, my ages changes as much as my clothes... well sort of. :D Tomorrow I might be a woman! What OS did the Amstrad CPC464 run on? Well Amstrad Basic was built into it's rom chip, so when you turned on the computer, Basic would load a lovely deep blue screen and blocky yellow writing...... And Basic was the whole operating system. It did have lots of library calls you could call from basic but not much else. Least the 'OS' it was instant load when the computer was turned on. :D gallicus 03-21-2002, 09:36 AM Cool, but what about his log cabin? Squirm 03-21-2002, 10:24 AM Kind of a paradox...... being born in the log cabin that he built. How could he build it before he was born? :-\ Iceplug 03-21-2002, 10:24 AM I was born in a little log cabin in Illinois that I built with my own hands....... Only in Illinois, perhaps? :) LVQ. :D Wasn't there a "Lord" Pookie somewhere? (guess he was denounced...hmm). Robby 03-21-2002, 12:11 PM Shouldn't the fourth item on the poll list be > 40 (greater than 40)? Derek Stone 03-21-2002, 01:31 PM I was born in a little log cabin in Illinois that I built with my own hands I'm sorry reboot, but you're not Lincoln. Regards, -CL reboot 03-21-2002, 01:35 PM :( I think I had most of them fooled if you hadn't told.... Computer_Guy 03-21-2002, 04:36 PM Sorry, I just thought of it as putting in my own style of baby code, sorry if I made you mad :( or some undesirable feeling. Ed n6jah 03-21-2002, 06:24 PM 50 -- I'm "old" to the young, and "young" to the old. When I was 15 years old I wondered if I would actually be alive when the year 2001 rolled around...being that I would be so ancient by then. OH-well, being old is definately better than the alternative. Pookie 03-21-2002, 08:18 PM Originally posted by Iceplug Wasn't there a "Lord" Pookie somewhere? (guess he was denounced...hmm). It's Cummings 03-22-2002, 12:54 AM Originally posted by Girlcake gosh, I'm 25...wish I was 15...or...even maybe 2 . 15 is a good age, It was one year ogo now, and 16 is even better :) and Computer Guy, i wasnt really offended, it was more of a friendly "you copyed my idear" thing, i dont mind, no harm done. ScotK 03-22-2002, 03:48 PM I started on an IBM system 360/65 that took about 15 square feet of floor space without the 3/4 meg of core (ram), selector channel, muliplexor, external Dasd (direct access storage devices (Hard Drive)), Tape drives, printers and dare I say..... Iceplug 03-25-2002, 06:59 AM 53? Wow. You can't increase the font size under a view menu of some sort? If not, it's time for the magnifying glass ! :) Thinker 03-25-2002, 07:14 AM Or get a 21" monitor as I did. Iceplug 03-25-2002, 07:19 AM Only 41? I'll be 53 come July.
