I was wondering how long it took you lot to become, well good at v.b ?:D :p :o

Some never will.
VB is just one of the many programming languages.
Some of us can program in any language, beside getting some time to get used to an, unknown/new/never used before, language.
Programming is all about "problem" solving and the language you are is using is merely a tool.

So like me do you live for errors and love to solve them, in fact like me do you deliberatly destry your program just to master and fix it?:D

I hate getting errors and hate even more trying to solve them. :)

Thats right C++ erros i can solve but v.b maybe i have to agree they are evil, from hell. But in c++ i can chop and cut insert all day long although some of you people dont like command promt i love it. suppose GUI erros are harder?

I don't have clue what you are talking about. I think you never wrote an application to be used by paying customers.

And I think you never used C++ before.

I was talking about the general concept of programming, which is language independent. This has nothing to do with liking error hunting or error solving.

I just have to ask... what's with all these strange polls and questions lately... how fast is my computer... how big is my monitor... how long does it take me to write a program (particularly silly)... am I a jedi (of course I am)... yadda yadda yadda...

I almost started a new thread just to ask this... :p

personally if you think they're silly, then just skip over them while browsing the "RANDOM THOUGHTS" forum :)

if you must know, my poll (monitor size) was justified by the fact that i would like to know the average size of monitor as to determine the realestate of viewing area of most users. That way an applicaton UI can be designed for the average monitor size, rather than designed for a 19" monitor that i use :) maybe i should make my intentions more clear next time....

Well, that is a very useful thing to know, but resolution, regular or
large fonts, and twipsperpixelx/twipsperpixely are also part of
that equation. Too bad the poll isn't a bit more versatile.

I design my apps on a 19" @ 1024x768. But I always test them on a 15" @ 800x600. Same with the OS. I design on win2k, but always test on 95, 98, NT4. Pays to be safe.

By the way, I meant no offense. I didn't intend to point out any of the polls in particular. My point was just that there seemed to be an awful lot of them in the last week or so is all. *shrug*

They are like a fad that comes and goes. Somebody posts one and then somebody else thinks, "hey that would be fun why don't I post my own," till it steamrolls into the poll blitz we have had in the past week :)

large fonts, and twipsperpixelx/twipsperpixely good point! the only things i was considering was Monitor size and Resolution (another thread from way back, where the ave was 800x600)

ps: reboot, you solution of testing at 800x600 on a 15" monitor is a fail safe method....

reboot, you think those polls are bad - I once posted one to find out what the weather was like for everyone!

I could have looked up the weather channel, but you never know where these things will wind up.
Needless to say, mine wound up at the bottom of the stack pretty quick.. no-one seemed interested in comparing "pecking orders" at that level!
Thinker only replied 'cos he was trapped indoors by an ice storm and couldn't pretend he had to pop out to borrow a cup of sugar or something!... :rolleyes: :D
