I was wondering how long it took you lot to become, well good at v.b ?:D :p :o
Are you jedi yet?wizxzard 03-20-2002, 03:39 AM I was wondering how long it took you lot to become, well good at v.b ?:D :p :o Flyguy 03-20-2002, 03:41 AM Some never will. VB is just one of the many programming languages. Some of us can program in any language, beside getting some time to get used to an, unknown/new/never used before, language. Programming is all about "problem" solving and the language you are is using is merely a tool. wizxzard 03-20-2002, 03:50 AM So like me do you live for errors and love to solve them, in fact like me do you deliberatly destry your program just to master and fix it?:D Pookie 03-20-2002, 03:53 AM I hate getting errors and hate even more trying to solve them. :) Man you must be a worry.... :p gallicus 03-20-2002, 03:57 AM Gotta be with Lord Pookie on this one. The project deadline is looming and there's that automation error......... :-\ wizxzard 03-20-2002, 03:59 AM Thats right C++ erros i can solve but v.b maybe i have to agree they are evil, from hell. But in c++ i can chop and cut insert all day long although some of you people dont like command promt i love it. suppose GUI erros are harder? Flyguy 03-20-2002, 04:17 AM I don't have clue what you are talking about. I think you never wrote an application to be used by paying customers. divil 03-20-2002, 05:12 AM And I think you never used C++ before. Flyguy 03-20-2002, 05:39 AM I was talking about the general concept of programming, which is language independent. This has nothing to do with liking error hunting or error solving. So your remark doesn't make any sense to me either; And I think you never used C++ before. Banjo 03-20-2002, 07:43 AM I think Divil may have been replying to wizxard. divil 03-20-2002, 07:44 AM I was talking to wizxzard, sorry for any confusion :) reboot 03-20-2002, 08:09 AM I just have to ask... what's with all these strange polls and questions lately... how fast is my computer... how big is my monitor... how long does it take me to write a program (particularly silly)... am I a jedi (of course I am)... yadda yadda yadda... I almost started a new thread just to ask this... :p Thinker 03-20-2002, 08:16 AM It is just the insecurity of youth. Futile attempts at determining a pecking order. Perhaps, just bored curiosity. divil 03-20-2002, 08:37 AM My pecking order is bigger than your pecking order gallicus 03-20-2002, 08:39 AM LOL:D ChiefRedBull 03-20-2002, 08:52 AM Yours may be bigger, but mine has more colors and makes more noise! :D divil 03-20-2002, 09:40 AM hehe Garrett Sever 03-20-2002, 09:40 AM More colors, eh? As many as this? :p I think I may be the god of colors here reboot 03-20-2002, 09:44 AM How do you sleep at night? :) divil 03-20-2002, 09:48 AM That's got to be the ugliest desktop screenshot I've ever seen in my life. Garrett Sever 03-20-2002, 09:55 AM Better? :p reboot 03-20-2002, 09:56 AM Much :) Volte 03-20-2002, 04:06 PM Originally posted by divil That's got to be the ugliest desktop screenshot I've ever seen in my life. Heheheh, hey! I made that theme! ;) ChiefRedBull 03-20-2002, 04:14 PM LOL awwwwwww poor Volte... you gotta admit though bud, its a bit... er... strong on the eye. :p Kitaiko 03-20-2002, 11:54 PM Originally posted by VolteFace Heheheh, hey! I made that theme! ;) What? How did that happen usetheforce2 03-21-2002, 10:45 AM Origianlly posted by Reboot I just have to ask... what's with all these strange polls and questions lately... how fast is my computer... how big is my monitor... personally if you think they're silly, then just skip over them while browsing the "RANDOM THOUGHTS" forum :) if you must know, my poll (monitor size) was justified by the fact that i would like to know the average size of monitor as to determine the realestate of viewing area of most users. That way an applicaton UI can be designed for the average monitor size, rather than designed for a 19" monitor that i use :) maybe i should make my intentions more clear next time.... regards, Regan Thinker 03-21-2002, 10:58 AM Well, that is a very useful thing to know, but resolution, regular or large fonts, and twipsperpixelx/twipsperpixely are also part of that equation. Too bad the poll isn't a bit more versatile. reboot 03-21-2002, 11:14 AM I design my apps on a 19" @ 1024x768. But I always test them on a 15" @ 800x600. Same with the OS. I design on win2k, but always test on 95, 98, NT4. Pays to be safe. re: usetheforce2 By the way, I meant no offense. I didn't intend to point out any of the polls in particular. My point was just that there seemed to be an awful lot of them in the last week or so is all. *shrug* dcl3500 03-21-2002, 11:38 AM They are like a fad that comes and goes. Somebody posts one and then somebody else thinks, "hey that would be fun why don't I post my own," till it steamrolls into the poll blitz we have had in the past week :) usetheforce2 03-21-2002, 11:51 AM posted by Reboot By the way, I meant no offense no offense taken :), and hope fully i didn't come of the wrong way ;)i just didn't want to be regarded as a youth tying to determine my pecking order :D Thinker, i never thought of regular or large fonts, and twipsperpixelx/twipsperpixely good point! the only things i was considering was Monitor size and Resolution (another thread from way back, where the ave was 800x600) ps: reboot, you solution of testing at 800x600 on a 15" monitor is a fail safe method.... regards, Regan Timbo 03-21-2002, 06:33 PM reboot, you think those polls are bad - I once posted one to find out what the weather was like for everyone! I could have looked up the weather channel, but you never know where these things will wind up. Needless to say, mine wound up at the bottom of the stack pretty quick.. no-one seemed interested in comparing "pecking orders" at that level! Thinker only replied 'cos he was trapped indoors by an ice storm and couldn't pretend he had to pop out to borrow a cup of sugar or something!... :D first person possessive of "peck" is cencored?!.. |
